Local Program Helps Veterans Train Service Dogs |
A River Valley nonprofit is giving both rescue dogs and veterans a second chance — one training session at a time. |
n the quiet hills of Arkansas, a unique program is changing lives for both people and pups.
The Warriors Keep Service Dog Training Program pairs veterans living with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries with rescue dogs, guiding them through a structured, months-long journey toward certification as service teams.
Over the course of up to 18 months, each veteran learns to train and bond with their dog through carefully designed phases — from basic obedience to public access and advanced task training.
The process doesn’t just produce skilled service dogs; it rebuilds trust, confidence, and connection for veterans adjusting to civilian life.
The nonprofit’s mission extends beyond training — it’s about community, mentorship, and creating lasting partnerships between heroes and the dogs who serve them.
For veterans interested in applying or supporters wishing to donate, visit warriorskeep.faith to learn more about upcoming classes and volunteer opportunities. |
